Creating in-game metrics using Event & Tracking Data for Opposition Analysis and Scouting purposes

The key metrics derived in this blog are:

1) Tracking Ball Receptions between Defensive lines

2) Creating Numerical Superiority across the pitch

3) One Touch- Combination Play across the pitch

4) Forward Runs into the Offensive Third

Tracking Ball Receptions between Defensive lines

What questions can be answered?

1) Who's receiving between the lines in the middle and half-spaces?

2) Which zones are the ball receptions the most?

3) Who's receiving in the wide and central areas?

Creating Numerical Superiority across the pitch

What questions can be answered?

1) Who's involved in creating overloads across the pitch within a radius of 20 yards?

2) What kind of overloads does the team create the most ? (3v3,3v2,4v3, 4v4)

3) Where on the pitch is the team creating overloads ? (By having a confidence interval of 95%)

One Touch- Combination Play across the pitch

What questions can be answered?

1) Who's involved the most in one-two touch combination play during the build up phase?

2) Who's involved the most in one-two touch combination play in the final third?

3) Where on the pitch is the team creating quick combinations?

Forward Runs into the Offensive Third

What questions can be answered?

1) Who's making the most runs in behind/and receiving the ball?

2) Who's making the runs that are leading to shots?

3) Who's involved in passing the final ball to the runner?

The metrics can be widely used within opposition analysis and for scouting purposes. Kindly drop me a note to chat over this if you find it interesting!
